Zach Hyman will hit free agency. NHL rumors have the Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers, Vancouver Canucks as the frontrunners to sign him.

With NHL Rumors going around that the Toronto Maple Leafs and Zach Hyman can’t work out on a contract extension, Hyman will hit the free agent market.

Kevin McGran of the Toronto Star reports the Edmonton Oilers, Calgary Flames and Vancouver Canucks are the frontrunners to sign Zach Hyman.

McGran went on to say the Pittsburgh Penguins, Boston Bruins, Detroit Red Wings and Florida Panthers also showing interest.

Hyman would like to stay with the Leafs on a $5 million x 8 year contract with a full NMC but he has already gotten offers north of there. Also reports have the Leafs not willing to go on an 8 year deal.

Hyman, 29, scored 15 goals in 43 games for the Maple Leafs last season. With Hyman’s style of play, is it worth the risk to sign him to a long-term deal?
