Will the Detroit Red Wings trade Tomas Tatar?

The Athletic: Tomas Tatar’s agent, Rich Winter has been working with the Detroit Red Wings for awhile on a new deal, and it doesn’t sound like it’s going well. Detroit has offered Tatar a contract, and even with a few options–for a year, or four or five. They are still talking about the length, and of course, the financial amount of the contract. Given the state of the Red Wings, it may be better for them to look at trading Tatar for draft picks and prospects. If they re-signed Tatar to a long-term deal and the Red Wings continue their rebuild, he’ll be 30 years old in three years when some of the their young prospects are ready.

Avalanche need to add experienced defenceman

The Hockey News The Colorado Avalanche currently have only three seasoned NHL blueliners in Erik Johnson (575 games), Tyson Barrie (338) and Mark Barberio (193) under contract for 2017-18.  The best option for bolstering the defense is trading center Matt Duchene. While the Nashville Predators, Carolina Hurricanes, Columbus Blue Jackets and Pittsburgh Penguins have assets to help the Avs and were linked to Duchene in trade rumors, nothing’s come of it so far. Free agent options include Brian Campbell, Johnny Oduya, Dennis Wideman, Cody Franson and Roman Polak.
