The Score: The New York Islanders don’t hold a first-round pick in this year’s draft, so if they want one, they’ll have to make a move. There are rumors going around that the Islanders are willing to trade Kyle Okposo.
“Kyle Okposo, who is entering the final season of a five-year, $14-million contract, could be on the trading block, according to two league sources outside the Islanders’ organization,”
GM Garth Snow wouldn’t confirm an Okposo deal, he did suggest the team could be looking to acquire a higher draft pick.
LAKingsInsider.com: It looks like the LA Kings have ‘no viable suitors’ for a potential Mike Richards trade. The Kings want to move on from Richards, but a possible trade partner has been hard to find. If Richards can’t be moved, the team could buy him out. However, that would see the Kings pay him at least $1.47 million a season until the end of the 2024-25 campaign.
New York Post: Pittsburgh Penguins GM Jim Rutherford “will sure try” to land Chicago Blackhawks winger Patrick Sharp. Larry Brooks speculates the New York Islanders could have their eye on Sharp.
