Picture of Alex DeBrincat. Islanders, Capitals interested in a trade for the forward.
The New York Islanders and Washington Capitals have interest in making a trade for Ottawa Senators forward Alex DeBrincat.

The Ottawa Senators have been looking to trade restricted free agent Alex DeBrincat since his new desired contract will not fit in with the Ottawa Senators salary cap structure.

DeBrincat had been tied to the Detroit Red Wings but it appears the Red Wings no longer have interest in a DeBrincat trade.

Alex DeBrincat headed to Washington or NY Isanders?

Elliotte Friedman was on his 32 Thoughts Podcast and stated that the Washington Capitals have interest in a Alex DeBrincat trade. He feels DeBrincat would be a great fit in playing with Alex Ovechkin.

Friedman went on to say in his podcast hit that the New York Islanders have contracted the Ottawa Senators on the asking price for DeBrincat. The Islanders have the salary cap room to take on DeBrincat’s new contract so the fit is there.

What are NHL Fans saying about a potential Alex DeBrincat trade to the NY Islanders or Washington Capitals?

DeBrincat will NOT be an Islander. We never sign any decent free agent. Isles management will focus on their own RFA’s and UFA’s.

Isles don’t have the assets to pull off a Alex DeBrincat trade. Just a pipe dream.

As a Capitals fan, I do not want DeBrincat. I feel he is too overrated an I don’t think he is worth the $9 million/year he is seeking.
