Picture of Alex DeBrincat. Will the Detroit Red Wings trade for the goal scorer?
Will Alex DeBrincat be playing for a new team next season? The Detroit Red Wings are looking for scoring help and DeBrincat seems like the perfect fit.

The Detroit Red Wings are looking to be playoff contenders next season and in order for the team to make a big jump in the standings, they will have to make a big offseason move.

NHL trade rumors are making the rounds that the Red Wings are showing interest in Ottawa Senators forward Alex DeBrincat.

Alex DeBrincat headed to the Detroit Red Wings?

Alex DeBrincat is a restricted free agent this summer and with him having an underperforming year in Ottawa, a change of scenery is what might be needed for DeBrincat.

He put up 66 points (27g, 39a) in 82 games last season which was a down year for him and his +/- rating of -31 is not to desirable for a player that wants $9 million/year.

The Detroit Red Wings are seeking offensive help and DeBrincat could be the perfect fit for the Red Wings. If the Senators are not seeking a player-for-player trade, Detroit has the draft pick/prospect assets to make a trade.

What are Red Wings fans saying about a Alex DeBrincat trade?

I firmly believe GM Steve Yzerman will make a major move this offseason, but it wont be for DeBrincat. It’ll have to be a trade from outside the division/conference. The Coyotes and Jets are likely trade partners for Detroit.

As a Sens fan, I’d have no problem trading Alex DeBrincat to the Detroit Red Wings. You gotta go with which team is offering you the best return for your asset.

Please skip on DeBrincat. He is not worth it. He is small and needs an elite playmaker for him to put up points. He is not worth the $8-$9 million/year he will be seeking in a new contract.
