The Florida Panthers are interested in making a Ben Chiarot trade. The asking price is a first round pick.

NHL rumors were floating around last month that the Montreal Canadiens had let teams know defenceman Ben Chiarot was available for a trade.

Pierre LeBrun reports the Florida Panthers are one of a few teams looking to make a trade now for Chiarot instead of waiting for the 2022 NHL trade deadline.

The Panthers played the Habs yesterday afternoon and you have to believe both teams chatted on what it what take to make a trade happen now rather than later.

NHL Analysts have mentioned it will likely take a first round draft pick to make a Chiarot trade happen. The Panthers have already used up their 2022 first round draft pick, so it would have to be the 2023 first rounder going to the Habs.

Like many other teams, the Florida Panthers are tight against the Salary Cap, so they might have to offer a little more than a first rounder for the Canadiens to eat part of Chiarot’s salary for a trade to happen.
