Sam Bennett takes the honor as the first suspension of 2022 after a hit to the head of Montreal Canadiens forward Cedric Paquette.
Bennett, 25, received a three game suspension for an illegal check to the head. In the video below it looks like he went for the hit with his shoulder and caught Paquette in the chin.
Paquette did not return to the game after the hit. Bennett was not penalized on the play and finished the game with two goals in the Panthers’ 5-2 victory over the Habs.
