The New Jersey Devils proved they are a Stanley Cup contender this past season but feel they need a franchise goalie to take the team on a deeper playoff run.
NHL trade rumors are making the rounds that one such goalie could be available this summer and if true, the Devils should jump all over it.
Connor Hellebuyck headed to the New Jersey Devils?
Larry Brooks of the New York Post reports that Winnipeg Jets goalie Connor Hellebuyck is one-year from free agency and he will likely not sign a long-term extension with the Jets this summer.
Brooks states in his piece that the Devils should offer up forward Jesper Bratt in a Hellebuyck trade.
Bratt, 24, put up 73 points (32g, 41a) in 82 games played last season and could fill an offensive hole if Pierre-Luc Dubois leaves the team via trade as many expect him to be traded this offseason.
The Devils will not be the only team interested in Connor Hellebuyck. The Ottawa Senators and LA Kings will also be searching for a #1 goalie this offseason.
