The Calgary Flames have no salary cap space for the 2023-24 season and will likely have to make a move or two to free up cap room.
Calgary needs to add three contracts to get to the 23 man roster limit before the start of the 2023-24 NHL season and a Flames player with $4 million or more in salary will have to be traded.
Tyler Toffoli is looking like the player that could be moved this offseason.
Tyler Toffoli to be traded this summer?
Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet reports with Tyler Toffoli having a career year, his trade value will not be any higher than it is right now. This offseason would be the right time to make a move and get some good draft capital back.
Toffoli had 73 points (34g, 39a) in 82 games last season and he has one-year remaining on his contract with a very affordable $4,250,000 cap hit.
Toffoli also does not own a no-trade clause so there are no restrictions on what team he could be traded to.
