With the Montreal Canadiens looking to do a full rebuild and maybe get some luck in the NHL Draft lottery and draft #1 overall prospect Shane Wright, the Habs will be looking to move out some big contracts.

One player that will be on the Habs trade list is Jeff Petry.

Jonathan Bernier of TVA Sports reports Petry, 33, does not want to be involved in a rebuild and would welcome a trade. He does have a 15 team no-trade clause but he could be willing to modify that list to move on from the Habs.

Petry recently stated, “When you’re further in your career, like I am, time becomes an issue. The Canadiens will have decisions to make.”

Petry has three more years remaining at a $6.25 million cap hit which could be tough to move considering his age and his play this year has not helped his cause in moving on from the Habs.

Other Habs players that will be likely traded by the 2022 NHL trade deadline are Ben Chiarot and Brendan Gallagher.
