NHL trade rumors circulated earlier this offseason that a trade would be beneficial for both Jesse Puljujärvi and the Edmonton Oilers but nothing has materialized so far.
With Puljujärvi re-signing with the Oilers this does not necessarily mean he will be playing with the Edmonton this year. Having Puljujärvi signed to a contract, makes it more easier to make a trade.
The Montreal Canadiens were one of the teams that inquired on the availability and cost of Puljujärvi at the 2022 NHL Entry draft.
If a trade were to happen, the Oilers do not want to take any salary back as this is a cost cutting move and seek a draft pick in return.
It is believed Oilers GM Ken Holland would like a second round pick for Puljujärvi. If the demand is not there for a Puljujärvi trade, Holland might have to settle for a 3rd – 5th round draft pick for a trade to be completed.
