The Boston Bruins sure have gotten themselves into a big mess with the Mitchell Miller contract signing.
Even though Boston has parted ways with Miller, because he signed a contract with the team before they parted ways, he is still owed money.
What will Mitchell Miller’s contract buyout options be?
Chris Johnston was on TSN’s Insider Trading segment and reports the Boston Bruins haven’t exactly been clear on how they’ll part ways with Mitchell Miller.
His contract has not been terminated, he’s still being paid, if the Bruins were to terminate the deal the NHLPA would certainly file a grievance on Miller’s behalf.
Johnston went on to say in his piece on the option the Boston Bruins have. They will likely pay Miller this season and buy him out in the summer at 1/3 the cost, if they do that there will be Bruins salary cap charge next 2 seasons beyond this one.
Will Mitchell Miller ever play in the NHL?
Based on Gary Bettman’s comments on the weekend, it is a slim chance he will ever play in the NHL. He’s not coming into the NHL, he’s not eligible at this point to come into the NHL.
Miller sat out the 2020-21 season before scoring 39 goals with 44 assists for Tri-City of the USHL in 2021-22. He was named the USHL’s player and defenseman of the year after setting league records for goals and points by a defenseman.
