Can Mitch Marner turn a solid first season in Vegas into another elite fantasy hockey campaign?
My Mitch Marner projection for the 2026-27 NHL season is 27 goals, 62 assists, and 89 points in 80 games for the Vegas Golden Knights. That would represent a nine-point improvement over his first season in Vegas and return Marner to the edge of the NHL’s highest fantasy tier.
The most encouraging part of Marner’s outlook is that he does not require an unsustainable goal-scoring spike to approach 90 points. His fantasy value continues to be driven by assists, offensive-zone possession and power-play opportunities. With Jack Eichel, Mark Stone, Tomas Hertl and Shea Theodore surrounding him, Marner should have several elite finishing options whenever Vegas has the man advantage.

Why Mitch Marner Can Reach 89 Points With Vegas
My projection model starts with Marner’s scoring pace from his first Vegas season, gives additional weight to his established history as an elite playmaker and then applies a modest second-year chemistry increase. I am not projecting a dramatic breakout or relying on an unrealistic shooting percentage. The predicted increase comes primarily from six additional assists and three more goals.
The biggest factor will be how frequently Marner shares the ice with Vegas’ best finishers. Eichel attacks defenders with speed, Stone creates turnovers and extended offensive-zone possessions, Hertl provides a net-front scoring presence and Theodore can move the puck through traffic from the blue line. Marner is at his best when he can delay, draw defenders toward him and find an open teammate in a dangerous area.
My personal observation is that Marner’s fantasy floor is more attractive than his absolute ceiling. Even when his goal scoring fluctuates, his vision and passing allow him to produce assists consistently. Vegas’ depth may prevent him from dominating every offensive possession, but that same depth also gives him more players capable of converting his passes.
In standard points leagues, I would consider Marner a strong top-35 overall target.
