The Calgary Flames finally have a win, but Thursday’s visit to Las Vegas could reveal more about their fantasy outlook than the result itself. Calgary arrives on October 15, 2026, after ending a five-game losing streak in Anaheim. Across the ice is a Vegas Golden Knights team averaging 3.63 goals per game, with Jack Eichel already producing at an extraordinary pace.
Here’s the matchup within the matchup: Calgary has allowed 29 goals in six games, while Eichel has 13 points in eight. That looks promising for Vegas fantasy managers, yet it also makes Calgary’s emerging players worth a closer look. Matt Coronato is getting offensive opportunities, Aydar Suniev has supplied a welcome scoring spark, and young defenceman Zayne Parekh remains an intriguing deployment watch.
I am watching the first two Calgary power plays as closely as the scoreboard. If the Flames can establish controlled zone entries and give their skill players sustained touches, there is fantasy value even in a losing effort. If Vegas dictates possession early, Eichel and Mitch Marner could turn this into a difficult night for Calgary’s goaltending.

Calgary Flames vs. Vegas Golden Knights Fantasy Hockey Matchup Outlook
Vegas enters 6-2-0 (12 points) after beating Nashville 5-2; Calgary is 1-5-0 (two points) after defeating Anaheim 4-2. Vegas has 29 goals in eight games; Calgary has 12 in six and has surrendered 29, compared with Vegas’s 20.
Vegas converts 23.3% of power plays against Calgary’s 15.4%. Yet Calgary’s penalty kill (85.0%) exceeds Vegas’s (80.0%). I’d target Vegas’s five-on-five pressure, not assume automatic special-teams goals.
On April 2, Vegas beat Calgary 6-3 behind Marner’s five-point hat trick. Vegas is 3-1 at home; Calgary is 1-2 away. History helps frame the matchup, not predict it.
Team Matchup Snapshot
Calgary Flames
Vegas Golden Knights
Six Calgary games and eight Vegas games played. Rates are early-season samples, not forecasts.
My fantasy takeaway: Vegas has the higher scoring ceiling; Calgary needs rebounds and transition chances.
NHL Fantasy Players to Watch in Calgary Flames vs. Vegas Golden Knights
Jack Eichel is my multi-point favourite: four goals, nine assists and heavy offensive minutes through eight games. Mitch Marner adds playmaking upside, especially beside William Karlsson or on the power play. Tomas Hertl has four goals and gives Vegas a net-front threat.
For Calgary, Matt Coronato offers shots and opportunity, not guaranteed points. Morgan Frost has two goals; Joel Farabee leads the Flames with four points. Aydar Suniev has three points in three games, including Tuesday’s goal and assist, but that pace is unsustainable without more opportunity.
On defence, I prefer Shea Theodore for Vegas assists; Rasmus Andersson is another option. Calgary’s Zayne Parekh needs meaningful power-play deployment to become a priority, while Simon Nemec has seen substantial minutes. Thursday’s units remain unconfirmed.

Calgary Flames

These are single-game estimates, not guarantees. A Calgary forward promoted to the top power-play unit would gain immediate upside.
Top Five Calgary Flames and Vegas Golden Knights Fantasy Scorers This Season
The index uses 2026-27 points through October 14. Farabee leads Calgary with four; Eichel leads Vegas with 13. Ties mean fifth-place selections are not exclusive.

NHLTradeRumor.com Scoring Index: Each player’s point total is indexed against his team’s leading scorer. This visualization describes past production and is not a future projection.
Ties: Calgary has four players on three points; Vegas has four on five points. Five players per team are displayed.
Calgary’s 2025-26 leaders were Matt Coronato (18 G, 27 A, 45 P), Mikael Backlund (17-26-43), Morgan Frost (22-21-43), Nazem Kadri (12-29-41) and Joel Farabee (20-18-38). Kadri has since been traded.
Vegas’s 2025-26 leaders: Eichel (27-63-90), Marner (24-56-80), Mark Stone (28-45-73), Pavel Dorofeyev (37-27-64) and Ivan Barbashev (23-38-61). These are historical goals-assists-points, not today’s lineup.
Injuries and Absences That Could Affect Fantasy Value
Calgary’s Jonathan Huberdeau (hip) and Samuel Honzek (lower body) are injured. Farabee, Coronato and Suniev can gain opportunity, but not necessarily PP1 minutes. I will watch whether Suniev again skates with Frost and Coronato, as in Tuesday’s lineup.
Vegas lists Victor Olofsson (injured reserve), Parker Wotherspoon (upper body) and season-long absentee Alex Pietrangelo. Olofsson’s absence opens space for rookie Trevor Connelly, who scored his third goal Tuesday. Wotherspoon’s absence affects defensive depth. These are injuries, not suspensions or holdouts; recheck before lineup lock.
Calgary Flames vs. Vegas Golden Knights Fantasy Hockey Prediction
MY SCORE PREDICTION: Calgary Flames 2 – Vegas Golden Knights 4
I expect Vegas to create the better chances. Its shot volume, power play and Eichel-led attack make it my preferred fantasy stack, although Calgary’s improved effort in Anaheim should keep things competitive.
I favour Eichel and Marner, plus Hertl around the crease. Calgary’s upside choices are Coronato and Frost. Dustin Wolf won Tuesday, but Thursday’s starting goalies remain unconfirmed. Fewer rebounds and penalties could keep Calgary close.
