NHL trade rumors for February 8, 2022 feature the Toronto Maple Leafs being aggressive at the NHL trade deadline for a Stanley Cup run.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are one of the top teams in the NHL and they are looking for a deep playoff run. The Problem is they are in a division that has three out of the top four or five teams in the league and they will have to go through Florida and Tampa, just to get out of their own division in the playoffs.

Jonas Segal of The Athletic reports the Maple Leafs are all in this year and will be very aggressive at the NHL trade deadline — whether it’s to fix that apparent need on the back end or shore up whatever other weakness crops up in the weeks to come, be it because of injuries or poor play.

Segal stated the Leafs only have three draft picks for the NHL draft 2022 — a first, a second, and a seventh. GM Kyle Dubas would like to keep the draft picks, but if the right deal comes along, he will trade the 2022 first round draft pick.

Dubas would rather make a trade sooner, rather than later so there is more time for the player to ‘gel’ with the team.

NHL trade rumors have had the Toronto Maple Leafs attached to Josh Manson and Jakob Chychrun with Chychrun being the obvious choice as he has term and a cap friendly salary cap hit.
