NHL rumors for February 7, 2022 feature the Chicago Blackhawks looking to trade Calvin de Haan for a 2nd or 3rd round draft pick.

The Chicago Blackhawks have had a very disappointing season. A lot was expected of the team after the offseason trades for Seth Jones and Marc-Andre Fleury. Now NHL rumors have them being sellers at the NHL trade deadline and one player they are looking to move is Calvin de Haan.

Frank Seravalli reports de Haan is indeed available for trade as a rental defenseman. He’s struggled at times this season, like most of Chicago’s blue line, but would be an ideal third pair option on a contending team.

Seravalli went on to say, de Haan is 20th in the NHL in blocked shots (1,005) since the start of the 2013-14 season. de Haan is an affordable, savvy veteran defenseman on an expiring contract. Just about every contending team in the league could find a spot on their blue line for him.

It will likely cost a team a second or third round draft pick to make a Calvin de Hann trade.

One team in the NHL rumors mill interested in a de Hann trade is the Toronto Maple Leafs.
