This offseason, there have been numerous NHL trade rumors surrounding the Calgary Flames and Boston Bruins in the NHL.
With the recent retirement announcements of Patrice Bergeron and David Krecji, rumors have suggested the team is seeking a center via trade.
Elias Lindholm has been linked to the Boston Bruins, but he could be re-signing in Calgary rather than being shipped out by the team.
The Bruins have expressed interest in acquiring center Mikael Backlund as part of a trade involving the return of Boston Bruins forward Jake DeBrusk to Calgary.

Jake Debrusk has had a tumultuous time in Boston. He was in the doghouse when Bruce Cassidy was the coach and requested a trade out of Boston.

DeBrusk, a productive 26-year-old player for the Bruins, cannot fill the center position that the team needs to address before the season begins. With limited options in the trade and free-agent market, Calgary Flames center Mikael Backlund may be the most suitable choice for the B’s.

I really like the trade proposal for DeBrusk. But the Calgary Flames might have to up their retention to 50% to make the trade happen.
Boston really needs to get younger. Not sure trading for a 34-year-old Mikael Backlund makes sense?
Boston needs to do something ASAP. They need someone to feed their offensive wingers and Backlund would be a solid add even though he is past his prime.
No to Backlund. No. 1 he’s 34 & is a second line centre at best. Debrusk is better and still young. We already have a second line centre Zacha. There have been so many rumours floating around Murphy makes em up the fly. Scheifele or Lindholm or bust!
