Some sad news for New York Islanders ice girl fans. The Ice Girls will not be making the move from Nassau Coliseum to Brooklyn. This will end a long-standing in-game tradition for the Islanders and the male fans!
The Islanders were the first NHL team to form such a group, with several other teams around the league gradually following suit.
What did the Ice girls do? The Islanders employed the ice girls, charged with shoveling loose snow off the playing surface while performing various promotional duties both inside Nassau Coliseum and in the community.
What are the NY Islanders doing to replace the ice girls? A coed ice crew will be tasked with “helping create the best ice possible as mandated by the NHL”.
