Rumors have been going around that the Chicago Blackhawks might be willing to trade Patrick Kane after the being under police investigation this summer.
According to Mark Lazerus of the Chicago Sun Times, at least five teams contacted the Blackhawks saying they’d be willing trade partners if the team decided to cut ties with Kane.
The issue with trading Kane right now is his $10.5 million/year cap hit. Most teams have filled their roster and do not have the cap space to take on his new contract. Patrick Kane’s salary cap hit goes to the 2022/23 season. That is a big contract to take on for that long.
The identity of the teams that called Chicago about his availability is unknown at this time. But I am sure it will be leaked soon.
