The Edmonton Oilers have been mentioned quite a bit in the NHL trade rumors mill the past few weeks. They are looking to make some big moves this offseason and it all really depends on if they can trade Tyson Barrie to free up Oilers salary cap space.
If they find a way to free up cap space, they have serious interest in signing goalie Jack Campbell to fill their #1 goalie need. But they are also looking to add some additional offence which leads to the Claude Giroux rumors.
Elliotte Friedman was on his 32 Thoughts Podcast and reports Oilers management have talked with Giroux about signing in Edmonton.
Giroux is looking to sign a deal, two-years or longer. It is believed the Colorado Avalanche have interest in Giroux but are only willing to give him a one-year deal.
Edmonton is willing to offer up more than a one-year deal. It could be two or a three year deal? It should be a very interesting next few weeks for the Oilers on who they trade and who they sign.
