With the New York Rangers being Stanley Cup contenders this year, do they go all in and make a trade for Tomas Hertl?

With the New York Rangers looking like they could be Stanley Cup contenders this season, the big question is, do they go all in and give up assets at the NHL trade deadline to make some big trades?

One player the Rangers could seriously look at is Tomas Hertl. NHL trade rumors have been floating around that Hertl would rather be traded than re-sign with the San Jose Sharks which makes him a prime candidate to be traded at the trade deadline in March.

Arthur Staple of The Athletic reports the Blue Shirts are among a handful of Stanley Cup contenders with sufficient salary-cap space to make additions at the trade deadline.

The only stumbling block to a Hertl trade is he does own a three team trade clause where he can only be traded to the three teams on his list. For the right playoff contending team, Hertl likely would waive his three team list to have a chance at a Stanley Cup.

Staple did go on to say, if a Hertl trade does not work out for the Rangers, they could target Philadelphia Flyers forward Claude Giroux or LA Kings forward Dustin Brown.
