The Chicago Blackhawks are looking to take another run at the Stanley Cup next year and they are looking to add an elite defenceman to the lineup.

Elliotte Friedman dropped a NHL trade rumor yesterday about the Blackhawks looking to trade Duncan Keith. Friedman stated, “There are rumblings Chicago is working on a potential Duncan Keith trade to either the Pacific Northwest or Western Canada. Word is Keith and team are working together to get him to a place he wants to go. We will see where this goes.”

This would free up some much needed cap space for the Blackhawks to make a move on an elite defeceman.

Darren Dreger is reporting that GM Stan Bowman is trying to add an elite-level defenceman, such as Dougie Hamilton, who is a pending unrestricted free agent. Hamilton’s agent has permission to speak to other clubs right now to try and work something out with the Carolina Hurricanes.

Dreger went on to say that the Blackhawks could also target Seth Jones, Columbus GM Jarmo Kekalainen intends on making his decision on Jones’ future closer to the 2021 NHL Draft.
