Picture of Toronto Maple Leafs and Anaheim Ducks. Is there a blockbuster trade in the works?
The latest NHL trade rumors have the Toronto Maple Leafs and Anaheim Ducks discussing a blockbuster trade.

NHL trade rumors have swirled all over the Toronto Maple Leafs this season. Leaf fans have been wondering if they will trade William Nylander or if will he re-sign with the team.

With Nylander likely staying with the team, the Maple Leafs are still looking for a way to shed some salary and a deal with the Anaheim Ducks could solve some salary cap issues.

Toronto Maple Leafs and Anaheim Ducks blockbuster deal

NHL trade rumors are making the rounds on social media that a five-player trade could be in the works.

The proposed trade:

To Toronto:

Frank Vatrano LW/RW at $3.65M
Urho Vaakanainen LD/RD at $850K

To Anaheim:

TJ Brodie RD at $5M
Timothy Liljegren RD at $1.4M
Nick Robertson LW at $796, 667

The proposed trade would save the Leafs some much-needed $2.8 million in salary cap space this season as the Leafs are unlikely to re-sign Brodie after this year.

What are NHL fans saying about the Toronto Maple Leafs and Anaheim Ducks proposed trade?

I really like the trade proposal. Don’t know if it will happen but it does make sense.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are done making moves. Nylander will not be traded. Brodie is staying. The only trades coming are if a top-line player gets injured during the season.

Is Nick Robertson a throw-in on every trade that pops up for the Maple Leafs?

  1. Leafs fans annd media are a miserable group that fail basic math. As a player who would want to play there. Recently there are player openly saying they wouldn’t play there.

  2. Makes absolutely no sense for the Leafs. Just someone throwing spaghetti on the wall to see if it will stick. The Leafs need defenseman, not lose them.

  3. If the Leaf’s are working on a trade with the Ducks take that trade that you presented and just throw that out the window. If Treliving has Lilygren and Robertson in this proposed pkg Tre needs a much better return than what’s been presented here. Lilygren is just starting to come into is own and there’s upside to his game, as far as Robertson goes he has lot’s of upside to his game once he can stay healthy and that’s just a matter of time. So this is the return I think that Tre should be looking for in return, this starts with a player that the Kyle acquired and then let him walk at seasons end and that’s Luybushkin, at least he brought a physical presence with him and Vatrano and Vaakanaian, at least you’ve got two possible defenders and a winger that can play either side. TJ didn’t look very good in the playoffs, he’s showing signs of slowing down, now I’m don’t like that they seem to be throwing in the towel on Lilygren when it looked like he was just showing some good signs of improvement. What’s scary about moving on from Robertson could come back to bite them, you know this kid has some talent and he’s still very young and at some point these injuries will stop. But being stuck between a rock and a hard place Tre needs to create Cap relief just to get under the Cap before the season gets started, something has to give somewhere. Who knows what this season will bring with Nylander yet to be signed or traded this could be the last of the core four. Tre brought in Berttruzi and Domi that makes for a formidable set of forwards to be sure. Tre must improve this backend if this team has any chance of being successful in the playoffs end of story. There’s still some time to improve the backend or we’ll probably have to wait till the deadline before something happens. It’s wait and see if Tre can improve this group, let’s just hope that he’s got something up his sleeve. Cheerz

  4. Not Lilly. Offer Brodie, Niemela, and Robertson for Lyibushkin , Vatrano and a second?

Then offer Comtois and Ritchie a PTO?
