Would the Columbus Blue Jackets and Winnipeg Jets work out a Pierre-Luc Dubois trade for Patrik Laine trade?

A few months back Patrik Laine’s agent Mike Luit let the media know that is would be “mutually beneficial” for all parties to part ways.

Now that training camp has started, Laine has been told he is not allowed to talk with the media. Are the Winnipeg Jets afraid of what he will say? That he wants to be traded?

You wonder, at some point, if GM Kevin Cheveldayoff picks up the phone to get Columbus Blue Jackets GM Jarmo Kekäläinen on the other end. Might there be a deal to be made involving Patrik Laine and Pierre-Luc Dubois? The No. 2 pick from the 2016 NHL draft for the No. 3 selection. Maybe throw in Jack Roslovic, to play for his hometown club, and call it a day? Dubois wouldn’t need to be sold on the merits of Winnipeg, since his father, Eric, has been an assistant coach with the Manitoba Moose for the past three years.
