Picture of Seth Jones and William Nylander. Could a trade happen this offseason?
Will William Nylander be a casualty of offseason changes for the Leafs. Could a Seth Jones for Nylander trade be in the works?

There have been a lot of NHL trade rumors floating around the Toronto Maple Leafs after their quick exit from the second round of the playoffs to the Florida Panthers.

Most NHL analysts feel the Leafs core needs to be split up. With John Tavares’ contract not tradeable, that leaves Mitch Marner, Auston Matthews and William Nylander.

Most trade talk is surrounded by either William Nylander and Mitch Marner being traded. It seems Marner has fallen out of favour with many Leaf fans after being invisible in the playoffs. He can put up points but it looked like he played scared in the Florida Panthers series.

Nylander played well in the playoffs and proved he can handle playoff style hockey. Which is leading many NHL rumors stating Toronto should keep Nylander over Marner.

Nylander for Jones trade happening this summer?

Once the Toronto Maple Leafs get their General Manager situation settled, it is believed the first business to be taken care of will be the Auston Matthews contract. Then it will be the Leafs core four situation.

If the Leafs are trading one of their big boys, it will be for a #1 defenceman and Seth Jones seems like a logical dman to target. He does not want to be on a rebuilding Blackhawks team. Jones wants to be on a playoff contender.

Nylander is likely the player to be traded as Marner meshes better with Matthews. The Leafs would need to complete a trade before July 1, 2023 as that is when Nylander’s 10-team no-trade list kicks in.

What are Leaf fans saying about a William Nylander for Seth Jones trade?

Marner is not worth his $10.9 salary but if we can get Seth Jones for Nylander. Please do it!

BIG mistake if they trade Nylander. He needs to stay in a Leaf uniform.

Seth Jones is the best fit for the Leafs. Would be great to see him on a competent team. If the Leafs can’t get Jones, I say they target Ivan Provorov.
