With Carey Price likely going on LTIR to start the season, it is expected that Montreal Canadiens goalie Jake Allen will be the starter.
With the Habs currently in rebuild mode, why not trade Allen and get some assets back. This will give Habs management a good look at goalies Samuel Montembeault and Cayden Primeau.
Allen is likely not part of the future and he will be a unrestricted free agent when the 2022-23 season ends.
Vegas is expected to be one of the top teams in the Western conference, they will have a healthy Jack Eichel, a solid defensive corps and if they can find a goalie, they will be a playoff contending team.
What will Habs GM Kent Hughes ask Vegas for in a Allen trade? That remains to be seen, but you have to believe the first ask is the Golden Knights 2023 1st round pick. Hughes knows Vegas will be desperate to find a goalie and they will have to pay if they want a proven starter.
