NHL trade rumors for February 4, 2022 feature the Winnipeg Jets looking at trading their franchise player Mark Scheifele.

The Winnipeg Jets have had a disappointing season as most NHL analysts had the Jets making a deep playoff run this year. NHL trade rumors are now circulating that the Jets could make a Mark Scheifele trade.

Mike McIntyre of the Winnipeg Free Press reports Scheifele looks disengaged and disinterested, especially when it comes to key aspects of the game such as puck management. His body language is troubling, and even his rare media appearances are head-scratchers.

McIntyre went on to say, a change of scenery might be in everyone’s best interests. Perhaps a fresh start with another franchise would benefit Scheifele.

Scheifele would provide a great return of assets since he is a point-per-game player and has a very friendly salary cap hit of $6.125 million over the next two seasons.

A Scheifele trade likely would not happen till the offseason, but if the right team with the right deal came along at the NHL trade deadline, he could be traded next month. Scheifele does own a modified no-trade clause where he can’t be traded to 10 teams of his choice.
