The New York Islanders have had a disappointing season. They sit 18 points back of the last playoff spot and are heading towards being sellers at the NHL trade deadline. NHL trade rumors are starting to float around that Cal Clutterbuck is drawing interest from playoff contending teams.
Kevin Kurz of The Athletic reports if the Islanders continue to remain well back of a playoff spot as we get close to the trade deadline general manager Lou Lamoriello could entertain a Cal Clutterbuck trade.
Kurz went on to say, Clutterbuck, who has 11 points (five goals, six assists) in 42 games would likely draw the most interest of the Isles pending UFA’s. His agitating, workmanlike game is the sort of thing several playoff teams might covet.
Clutterbuck, 34, has a salary cap hit of $3,500,000 and does not own a no-trade clause.
