With the Nashville Predators sitting 8 points out of a playoff spot in this shortened NHL season, NHL trade rumors are starting to float around that Nashville will be sellers at the 2021 NHL trade deadline.

TSN’s Pierre LeBrun is reporting that it looks like the Preds will be sellers and the main two players that will likely be dealt at the trade deadline are Mikael Granlund, Erik Haula, who are on one-year deals and will be UFAs at the end of the year.

LeBrun also states that Mattias Ekholm who has been a long-standing member of that organization has a year and half left on his contract at a real bargain price of $3.75 million. He does not have any no-trade protection and again this would really be about the Predators perhaps seeing what’s out there. Ekholm would likely fetch a 1st round draft pick if a trade were to happen.

The NHL trade deadline is April 12, 2021 and if the Predators do not turn things around in the next few weeks, you can be sure that they will be sellers and the team will be on its way to a rebuild.
