Tony DeAngelo and Alex Georgiev had physical altercation after the New York Rangers loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins according to Larry Brooks.

DeAngelo had been on the ice for the overtime goal as well as the Penguins’ first three goals at five-on-five. There had been a mishap — or miscommunication between the goaltender and defenseman that is rumored to have started the altercation between the two.

With the altercation and DeAngelo being in the coaches dog house since the start of the season has led the Rangers to put him on waivers.

DeAngelo is on regular waivers as opposed to unconditional waivers. According to the CBA, being placed on and clearing unconditional waivers are necessary for a team to be able to terminate a player’s contract.

If DeAngelo clears waivers, you have to believe he will be sent to the minors until a trade can be made.
