NHL trade rumors for May 2, 2022 feature Mark Scheifele wanting out of Winnipeg. Will the Jets trade him or does he stay?

NHL trade rumors floated around during the trade deadline period that the Winnipeg Jets were exploring a Mark Scheifele trade but nothing materialized.

Most NHL Analysts feel a change of scenery might be best for Scheifele as he did look disengaged for most parts of this season.

Scott Billeck of the Winnipeg Sun reports that Scheifele loves the city of Winnipeg but in his press conference yesterday, not once did he state he wants to stay in Winnipeg and play for the team.

Scheifele stated, “I have to think about my career and what’s going to be best for me. Those are going to be… talks with my agents and everyone in my family and stuff like that and figure out what I really want.”

Scheifele still have two years left on his contract at a Jets salary cap friendly $6.125 AVV per year. He does own a modified no-trade clause but if Scheifele wants out of Winnipeg, he may waive that option to facilitate a trade.
