Darren Dreger reports the Toronto Maple Leafs will look to add a 3rd or 4th line forward and a 3rd pairing defenceman at the NHL trade deadline.

Darren Dreger was on Toronto’s local sports station ‘Leafs Lunch’ and he was asked, what do you see the Toronto Maple Leafs doing at the NHL trade deadline?

Dreger feels the Leafs will look for small pieces to add to their lineup. He stated Toronto will look at adding a 3rd pairing defenceman and a 3rd or 4th line winger. He does not foresee the Leafs bringing in any top-line talent as they just do not have the salary cap space.

Dreger feels Buffalo Sabres defenceman Brandon Montour might fit well with the Leafs and believes he still has not hit his full potential. Montour, 26, is scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent this off-season.

If the Leafs are looking to a add a 3rd or 4th line forward for depth to the lineup, they will likely look at Ottawa Senators Ryan Dzingel or Detroit Red Wings Luke Glendening.

Dreger was on TSN’s Insider Trading later in the day and mentioned the Leafs could target Mikael Granlund of the Nashville Predators.

Earlier this season, NHL Trade Rumors had the Maple Leafs interested in Calgary Flames forward Sam Bennett.
