Picture of Sebastian Aho. Will the Hurricanes re-sign Aho to a long-term contract?
NHL trade rumors have the Carolina Hurricanes and Sebastian Aho close to signing a contract extension worth 8x$9.5M / year.

Will all the NHL trade rumors floating around with William Nylander and Erik Karlsson, the Carolina Hurricanes are quietly trying to re-sign Sebation Aho.

Aho, 25, is coming off a 67 point (36g, 31a) campaign for the Hurricanes. Carolina is looking to lock him up long-term before he becomes an unrestricted free agent next summer.

Sebastian Aho likely to re-sign with the Carolina Hurricanes

Elliotte Friedman one of the few NHL Analysts still working this offseason was on the NHL Network and reports that Sebastian Aho and the Carolina Hurricanes are close to a long-term contract extension.

Friedman went on to say in his Aho TV hit that he believes the contract will be 8 years at a Hurricanes salary cap hit of $9.5 million/year.

The reason there is a holdup on the Aho contract is the Canes are still trying to make a trade for Erik Karlsson and possibly signing Vladimir Tarasenko.

What are NHL fans saying about the potential Sebastian Aho contract extension?

If Aho does sign that contract, it is a great deal for the Canes and will be a bargain in a few years. P.S. Leaf fans, this is what Nylander will be seeking in his contract.

I think this is an overpay for Sebastian Aho. Less than a point per game player and no way Nylander will get more than Aho.

Can’t believe Aho was a second round draft pick in 2015. What a selection by the Hurricanes. Hope he is a Cane 4 life!
