NHL trade rumors for March 12, 2022 feature the Vancouver Canucks looking to trade defenceman Tyler Myers.

A lot of NHL trade rumors have been swirling around the Vancouver Canucks lately. For the last few months it was J.T. Miller being traded, but now it looks like the Canucks will hold onto Miller. Brock Boeser’s name is in the rumor will but with a qualifying offer of $7 million next year, teams are staying away.

The one name that is gaining interest is Tyler Myers. Teams are seeking defenceman and calling Vancouver about a Myers trade.

Nick Kypreos was on Sportsnets radio station The Fan 590 and stated GM Jim Rutherford’s focus going into the last week of the NHL trade deadline is to off load a big Canucks contract with term.

Kypreos went on to say, with the unlikely scenario of trading Miller, Tyler Myers name is now added to a list of NHL defenceman available.

Myers, 32, has a modified no-trade clause where he submits a 10 team no trade list. He has two more years left on his contract with a salary cap hit is $6,000,000.

  1. I have written about who would be a Myers replacement if we trade him. I suppose there are options when you have an extra $6M to play with. I believe the Canucks need to trade him if the right deal pops up. Hamonic by way of an example seems to be playing great hockey and would not look out of place next to OEL. Having room and CAP space to sign some top notch young talent in a summer trade cant hurt either. Problem is, if the Canucks are still in the hunt I dont see how the management team will want to upset the psyche of the team buy trading a key component (if they dont have to).
