The Calgary Flames are currently in a playoff spot and will be looking to make a trade for a top defenceman by the 2022 NHL trade deadline.

Eric Francis of Sportsnet reports the Calgary Flames should target Seattle Kraken defenceman Mark Giordano. Fitting his $6.75 million cap hit into the team’s salary cap structure would be a challenge, as would meeting the Kraken’s asking price.

Francis went on to say the asking price for a Giordano trade would be a first-round pick, as well as either a second- or third-rounder, depending on who you talk to.

The Flames would likely have to trade out some salary to fit Giordano’s cap hit and defenseman Nikita Zadorov and winger Dillon Dube are the two likely players that could be moved out to bring in a top defenceman via trade.
