NHL trade rumors have been circulating since February that the Minnesota Wild will likely have to trade Kevin Fiala this offseason because of the Wild salary cap constraints.
A big question about Fiala’s future popped up this weekend after he subtly changed his Instagram profile picture from him in a white Wild uniform to him in just shoulder pads, with no uniform, along with posting a picture of himself celebrating a goal with the caption, “Thank you Minnesota,” followed by green heart.
Michael Russo of The Athletic reports the only way the Wild would be able to re-sign Fiala is if they trade Matt Dumba, but GM Bill Guerin has no intention of trading the defenceman.
Russo went on to say, Fiala’s is coming off a second straight disappointing postseason (one goal in 13 games over the past two playoffs) and he has a complicated relationship with coach Dean Evason. It appears Fiala is readying for a split from Minnesota.
Minnesota’s asking price for Fiala will likely be a first-round pick and a top prospect.
What teams are interested in a Fiala trade?
- Ottawa Senators
- New Jersey Devils
- Philadelphia Flyers
- New York Islanders
- Anaheim Ducks
The Ryan Suter and Zach Parise buyouts have really hurt the Wild and they will be loosing a heck of a player this offseason.
