Anaheim Ducks GM Pat Verbeek has stated he is willing to trade draft picks for NHL-ready talent this summer. The two players the Ducks are rumored to be targeting are Kevin Fiala or Jacob Chychrun.
NHL rumors have been floating around already that the Anaheim Ducks along with a handful of other teams are interested in trading for Kevin Fiala.
If a Fiala trade does not pan out for the Ducks, they could make a trade for Jacob Chychrun.
Felix Sicard of The Fourth Period reports the Ducks have been linked to Coyotes defenseman Chychrun since the NHL trade deadline, with the reported asking price being three to four significant assets.
Chychrun, 24, is on a excellent contract that carries three more years at a $4.6 million salary cap hit. This is what makes him so attractive to teams and why the Coyotes are asking a lot in a trade package.
It will be an interesting summer to see what the Ducks do, but it appears the mandate is to compete for a playoff spot.
