The Montreal Canadiens have re-signed often injured forward Sean Monahan to a one-year, $1.985 million contract.

Monahan earns a $15,000 performance bonus for 26 games played.

Monahan will hope to get his career back on track next season with the hopes of continuing his career and getting a long-term contract next offseason.

Monahan, 28, was drafted 6th overall by the Calgary Flames in the 1st round of the 2013 NHL entry draft. Currently over a career that spans 10 seasons, he has a total 479 points in 681 games played, and 21 playoffs points in 30 games played.

Sean Monahan contract breakdown

What are Habs fans saying about the Sean Monahan contract?

Nice move by the Habs. Monahan should be able to easily flip at the NHL trade deadline for a pick if he isn’t hurt again.

I hope we get 60-70 games out of him. But it will be more like 40.

This Monahan contract makes no sense. This re-signing makes no sense. I wouldn’t be surprised if he is traded in July! Why would he take less?
