The Ottawa Senators are up for sale and reports have actor Ryan Reynolds interested in buying the franchise and keeping it in Ottawa.

With news that the Ottawa Senators are looking to sell the team following the death of owner Eugene Melnyk, it appears a Canadian Hollywood heavy weight is interested in buying the team.

Melnyk’s two adult daughters inherited the team and they are keen on selling the Ottawa Senators. The goal is to keep the franchise in Ottawa. The big question is will an arena be built first or the sale of the team?

Ryan Reynold’s interested in buying the Ottawa Senators

People Magazine reports Deadpool actor Ryan Reynold’s is interested in buying the team and keeping it in the Ottawa region. With the release of NHL franchise values recently, the Ottawa Senators have a value of $655 million.

Reynold’s will likely need some investors to help him with the purchase of the team. He has a reported net worth of $150 million.

Whomever buys the team, the new ownership will want to make sure everything is lined up to build a new arena on an identified 7.5-acre tract of land in LeBreton Flats, just west of Parliament Hill.
