Pittsburgh Penguins extend Matt Murray on 3-year, $11.25M deal, will Fleury be dealt?
The Pittsburgh Penguins have extended goaltender Matt Murray through the 2019-20 season.
Murray signed a three-year contract with the Penguins which holds an average annual value of $3.75 million.
Murray has yet to play a game this season due to a hand injury suffered last month at the World Cup of Hockey.
Murray, 22, owns just 13 career regular-season starts, but got 21 starts in the playoffs last season as the Penguins won the Stanley Cup.
Murray was 15-6 in the postseason with a goals against average of 2.08 and a .923 save percentage.
In the regular season, Murray went 9-2-1 with a 2.00 GAA and a .930 save percentage, posting one shutout.
This signing will start more Marc-Andre Fleury trade rumors as the Penguins will only be able to protect one of the two goaltenders in June’s Las Vegas expansion draft.
