New York Rangers interested in Jacob Trouba
New York Post: Larry Brooks reports Winnipeg Jets defenseman Jacob Trouba would fill a major hole on the New York Ranger blueline. Brooks speculates the Rangers might land Trouba, with a package of promising blueliner Brady Skjei and either winger Chris Kreider or versatile forward J.T. Miller. He even suggests adding rearguard Dylan McIlrath in the deal.
Anaheim looking to trade a defenceman to free up cap space
ESPN: The Anaheim Ducks cannot re-sign free-agent defenseman Hampus Lindholm because they have to make a salary-dumping trade to free up cap space. Craig ustance believes the Ducks prefer to move Kevin Bieksa, Simon Despres or Clayton Stoner, but an NHL executive tells him they don’t have much value. They could be stuck moving Cam Fowler. Custance claims the Boston Bruins and Detroit Red Wings are the best candidates to pursue a defenseman.
