Calgary Flames looking to move up in the draft
Ottawa Sun: Bruce Garrioch is reporting Calgary Flames GM Brad Treliving, who has the sixth overall pick in the upcoming NHL draft, wants to move up into the top three or four.
Detroit Red Wings top contender for Steven Stamkos
TSN Radio 1050: Darren Dreger is reporting that the Detroit Red Wings are the top contender for Steven Stamkos if they can move Pavel Datsyuk’s contract. If that happens, Dreger states the Red Wings would offer a 7-year contract at $10 million. The Lightning can only afford to pay Stamkos a 8-year $8.5 million/year contract.
Bruins have contacted the Blues about a Shattenkirk trade
Ottawa Sun: Bruce Garrioch is also reporting the Boston Bruins have contacted the St. Louis Blues about defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk. The Buffalo Sabres and Edmonton Oilers are also looking for help on defense. Ideally, the Blues would prefer to re-sign Shattenkirk, who’s eligible for UFA status next summer.
