The Fourth Period: According to the Raleigh News & Observer, it’s possible the Carolina Hurricanes look to trade one of their more marketable players this off-season in Jeff Skinner. Skinner has four-years left on his contract that pays him $6 million annually, though his salary cap hit is $5.25 million. He doesn’t own a no-trade clause for next season. GM Ron Francis will be exploring multiple moves this summer, and will target several free agents.

The Hockey News: Will the Dallas Stars trade Kari Lehtonen? Lehtonen won 34 games for the Stars, his goals-against average (2.94) and save percentage (.903) was among the worst for NHL starting goalies. Lehtonen would benefit from a fresh start, but moving him won’t be easy. The Detroit Red Wings, Edmonton Oilers and Carolina Hurricanes could be possible destinations.

Edmonton Journal: The Edmonton Oilers will be looking for a starting goalie next season. Craig Button suggests they pursue goalies like the New York Rangers’ Cam Talbot, the LA Kings’ Martin Jones, the Ottawa Senators’ Craig Anderson. The Oilers would be willing to trade their 1st round pick from Pittsburgh for a goalie.
