Kerby Rychel

Blue Jackets Kerby Rychel asked for a trade before the season began

The Score: A day after the news of Jonathan Drouin requesting a trade, news has come out that 2013 first-round pick Kerby Rychel asked for a trade before the season began. Rychel’s agent and his father met with the Columbus Blue Jackets at development camp this fall to ask why Rychel was so low on the Blue Jackets’ depth chart. It’s assumed that’s when the trade request was made.

Three Potential destinations for Jonathan Drouin

The Score: Jonathan Drouin is a skilled left-winger and some teams are seeking this need. Drouin could be a good fit for the Ottawa Senators, and with the potential for an increased role, the Senators could be a good fit for both.

The Arizona Coyotes don’t boast a left side scoring threat. The team has the assets to make a trade for Drouin. The Coyotes holds the rights to highly touted prospects Dylan Strome, Christian Dvorak, Conor Garland, Brendan Perlini, and Ryan Macinnis.

The Colorado Avalanche don’t have any budding left wingers in the pipeline, so an upgrade will likely need to be acquired rather than developed. Jonathan Drouin also ripped up the QMJHL with Nathan MacKinnon. Could the duo re-capture the magic?

Travis Hamonic unlikely to be traded this season

Newsday: With the recent injury to defenceman Johnny Boychuk, the New York Islanders will rely more on Travis Hamonic, which means, he will most likely not be traded this season. Unless a fellow GM blows away GM Garth Snow with an offer in the next seven weeks, Hamonic will be a summer-time trade.
