TSN 690: Bob McKenzie reports on what would happen if Nikita Kucherov were to sign an offer sheet. First, if the Tampa Bay Lightning were to match it would cause a salary cap nightmare as the Lightning has to re-sign Jonathan Drouin, Tyler Johnson and Ondrej Palat next summer. The cost for a rival club signing Kucherov to a deal worth between $7-$7.5 million annually would be a first, second and third round pick.
Kris Russell made a big mistake this summer
Sportsnet: Unrestricted free agent defenseman Kris Russell and his agent overestimated this summer’s free agent market. Russell could end up signing with a club in the coming weeks, he won’t receive the same money that he might’ve gotten in July. The most likely team Russell could sign with is the Calgary Flames at a discounted price.
Jaroslav Halak might not be traded
