New York Islanders GM Lou Lamoriello is seeking a 3rd line left winger to play with Jean-Gabriel Pageau and Oliver Wahlstrom.

The issues the Islanders have like many other teams is salary cap space. If Lamoriello were to make trade, he would have to trade out a current player as draft picks or prospects will not free up the cap space needed to make a trade.

The Fourth Period reports there was some NHL Rumors circulating about the Islanders and Florida Panthers discussing a swap of Leo Komarov for Brett Connolly, but the Panthers would need to retain a portion of Connolly’s deal or take on another contract in order to make this work. So far, it hasn’t.

With five weeks to go till the 2021 NHL Trade Deadline, the Isles still have time to figure out how they can pursue a 3rd line winger.
