With the Philadelphia Flyers promoting Daniel Briere to GM of the team, player changes are expected to be made this offseason. Decisions will be made after the 2023 NHL draft lottery takes place later this month.
If the Flyers can somehow win the draft lottery and select Connor Bedard #1 overall, the rebuild might happen sooner rather than later but if they miss out on Bedard, look for Flyers management to move out some salaries.
Teams were interested in Kevin Hayes at the NHL trade deadline
Giana Han of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports some Philadelphia Flyers players with term on their contract will be traded this summer and one of those players will be Kevin Hayes.
Han went on to say in her piece that Hayes, 30, has been in coach John Tortorella’s dog house and having a player making $7.142M in the bottom-six of the lineup is not ideal.
Hayes is a prime candidate to be traded this summer and NHL rumors had the Colorado Avalanche and Columbus Blue Jackets interested in a Kevin Hayes trade.
The Flyers will likely have to eat some of Hayes’ Flyers salary cap hit to facilitate a trade.
Hayes will have some say in where he will be traded to as he does own a 12-team no-trade clause.
