With the recent trade of Nashville Predators forward Viktor Arvidsson to the LA Kings in exchange for a second-round pick in 2021 and a third-round pick in 2022, GM David Poile is not done making trades this off-season.
Poile stated, the upcoming NHL expansion draft played into this trade: “If Viktor Arvidsson was not protected, he would’ve been taken by Seattle and that’s who we would’ve lost… It definitely was a factor, not just losing Viktor for nothing.”
Poile would like to make a trade with the Seattle Kraken for them to pick a specific player in the expansion draft. There is no word on whom Poile would like to see selected but NHL trade rumors earlier this off-season had Matt Duchene and Ryan Johansen available for a trade to free up salary cap space.
Poile went on to say, “I’ve had a couple conversations with [Seattle]. Ideally, if we could strike a deal to determine a certain player who we would lose, I’d like to do that.”
