Mark Stone remains one of the more fascinating players to evaluate in fantasy hockey because there really isn’t much mystery surrounding his production when he’s healthy. The bigger question is simply how many games fantasy managers are going to get from the Vegas Golden Knights captain.
Stone delivered 28 goals and 45 assists for 73 points in only 60 games last season, giving him a remarkable 1.22 points-per-game pace. NHL.com notes that his scoring rate was among the best single-season marks in Golden Knights history.
That makes my Mark Stone fantasy hockey projection for 2026-27 fairly aggressive: 31 goals, 53 assists and 84 points in 72 games.
The reason I’m willing to project another big offensive season is the quality surrounding Stone. Vegas can put him on a power play featuring Mitch Marner, Jack Eichel, Tomas Hertl and Shea Theodore, giving Stone elite playmakers, finishers and puck movers around him. We’ve already seen evidence of the Stone-Marner combination working with the man advantage, including Marner setting up Stone for a power-play goal during Vegas’ 2026 playoff run.
For fantasy managers, that combination gives Stone legitimate point-per-game upside — and potentially much more.
Mark Stone Fantasy Hockey Projection for the 2026-27 NHL Season
My model starts with Stone’s 73 points in 60 games, which equals approximately 1.217 points per game. Simply carrying that pace through 72 games would put him close to 88 points.
I’m shaving several points off that pace rather than blindly extrapolating last season. Stone is entering a stage of his career where workload and durability have to be incorporated into any responsible fantasy projection.
At the same time, I don’t want to overcorrect.
An 84-point projection over 72 games represents about 1.17 points per game, meaning I’m actually forecasting a small decline in Stone’s scoring rate despite the possibility of stronger power-play chemistry.
That gives fantasy managers a realistic baseline rather than a best-case projection.
Why Mark Stone’s Vegas Golden Knights Power-Play Role Raises His Fantasy Ceiling
The most exciting part of Stone’s fantasy profile is Vegas’ potential first power-play unit.
Marner is an elite distributor. Eichel attacks through the middle and can both shoot and create. Hertl gives Vegas a dangerous net-front presence. Theodore can distribute from the blue line. Stone’s intelligence allows him to operate in the soft areas defenses struggle to protect.
Vegas’ power play was clicking at 27.3 percent and ranked fourth in the NHL as of mid-January last season, illustrating the ceiling this group can possess when healthy.
Stone doesn’t need to dominate possession himself. His greatest offensive strength has always been reading the play one step ahead of defenders. Put enough talented players around someone with that hockey IQ and scoring chances tend to follow.
From my perspective, that’s why 53 assists is attainable.
Fantasy hockey draft strategy for Mark Stone
Stone is exactly the type of player where fantasy managers need to separate per-game value from total-season value.
If your league rewards points per game heavily, has IR spots or allows managers to replace injured players efficiently, I’m comfortable being considerably more aggressive drafting Stone.
In leagues where durability and raw season-long totals matter more, I would build a little more caution into his draft-day price.
My realistic range looks like this:
Floor: 65-70 points if injuries become a major issue
Projection: 31 goals, 53 assists, 84 points in 72 games
Ceiling: 90+ points if Stone stays healthy for 75-plus games
That 90-point ceiling isn’t difficult to envision. His 2025-26 production already demonstrated the required scoring pace.
The risk is availability, not offensive ability.
For me, that makes Stone an intriguing fantasy target. There will almost certainly be managers who downgrade him because of his injury history. If that pushes him too far down draft boards, that’s precisely where value can emerge.
