Will the Edmonton Oilers target Zach Hyman in the offseason? The Leafs are looking to add a top 6 forward at the trade deadline.

Elliotte Friedman was on the Toronto Maple Leafs broadcast last night and was asked what he thinks Toronto will do at the NHL trade deadline? Friedman believes the Leafs are looking to add a top 6 forward and that a trade might happen a few weeks before the trade deadline.

Darren Dreger reported earlier in the week the Leafs were seeking a 3rd line defenceman and a 3rd or 4th line winger.

It appears Toronto will be looking to add some pieces to the team for a long playoff run.

Oilers Rumors

After the Edmonton Oilers were swept by the Toronto Maple Leafs in their three game mini series. Questions about the teams desire and grit are starting to circulate.

Jim Matheson feels Edmonton should target Zach Hyman in the offseason as he is exactly what Oilers are missing, a gritty highly-competitive winger, who can play in the top 6. He’s UFA after this season. Can the Leafs, up against the cap, afford to keep him?

Matheson also mentions if they cannot land Hyman in the offseason to target another UFA, Winnipeg Jets third-line center Adam Lowry.
